Ozone Therapy

Ozone is a gas that can be used for its therapeutic properties. In low concentrations, Ozone has proven safe and effective in treating and preventing a variety of diseases.

What is Ozone?

Ozone (o3) is a potent oxidant. Oxidation is probably familiar to you in an environmental sense and probably causes some concern. However, oxidation is an important process when it comes to cellular or microbial activity. In vitro, ozone has been shown to weaken the cellular integrity of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and yeast - the common culprits in spreading disease. Ozone does all this whilst not oxidizing the healthy microbiota inside the human body. Ozone has many applications, most notably and successfully, as a disinfectant and to purify water.

How Does Ozone Work?

Ozone has anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, ozone serves to regulate the immune system by stimulating the production of key signaling proteins that elicit the destruction of microbes. The immune system’s primary function is to identify and attack foreign substances that cause inflammation and damage to the human body. Ozone also has hemodynamic properties, meaning it positively impacts blood flow and circulation throughout the body. Ozone stimulates the uptake and utilization of oxygen by the body’s cells. It does this by activating the Kreb’s cycle, the mechanism that allows cells to optimize oxygen by transforming it into energy. Lastly, ozone increases the effectiveness of the body’s antioxidant enzyme system. Antioxidants function to prevent cellular damage, which is a common pathway for many lifestyle related diseases.

Applications Used At TBHW

  • o3 Intramuscular Injection Therapy

    • o3 injections are minimally invasive, safe, less expensive and effective in relieving pain and reducing inflammation. This technique is easy to perform and requires no down time from the patient. TBHW offers this technique for skeletal-muscular and joint related pathologies.

  • o3 Insufflation Therapy and o3 Enema Therapy

    • o3 insufflation means to blow the ozone gas into a body cavity. We provide insufflation for ear, nasal, rectal or vaginal cavities. Ozone Therapy enhances oxygen utilization in the body which improves blood flow, helps reduce inflammation, and balances the immune system. Most ozone experts believe that ozone insufflation therapy is 95% as effective as Ozone Major Autohemotherapy and less invasive. TBHW offers ear, nasal, rectal, and vaginal ozone insufflation therapy for pathologies relating to organs or organ systems that open to these orifices. We also offer ozonated water enema therapy to be applied rectally.

  • o3 Cupping Therapy and o3 Limb Bagging

    • o3 cupping therapy is the method of applying ozone gas to an affected area to eliminate infection and to speed up the healing process in an infected area. Disinfection is considered to be the primary mechanism for the inactivation and destruction of pathogenic organisms to prevent the spread of disease. By targeting an affected area with the proper concentration of ozone, healing for skin wounds, lesions and infected areas can be expedited for faster healing.

Mechanisms of Action

  • Antimicrobial Treatments: o3 can increase interferons, or signaling proteins, released by host cells. Interferons stimulate the immune response, which then kicks into high gear to target & destroy recognized pathogens.

  • Metabolic Insufficiency Treatments: o3 stimulates oxygen metabolism by increasing the rate of glycolysis - the process of breaking down glucose molecules. By effectively increasing oxygen levels in those with metabolic insufficiency red blood cells can work more efficiently.

  • Human Optimization Treatments: The root cause of aging and lifestyle related disease is chronic inflammation. Using o3 as part of your prevention regimen is as wise as balanced nutrition!

Contraindications for Ozone Therapy

  • Acute and chronic tendency to bleeding; blood coagulation disorders

  • Thrombocytopenia

  • Hyperthyroidism

  • Cramps in the anamnesis; prone to hemorrhagic insult in the anamnesis

  • Individual intolerance to ozone

  • Ozone should be used most carefully in cases of decompensated conditions
